We record possible impairments of two fundamental ecosystem functions caused by algal toxins: the algal filtration rates of zooplankton and the degradation of fallen leaves by invertebrates. We document the biodiversity of the Oder floodplain using various indicators such as insect diversity in floodplain waters, the diversity of higher plants, molluscs, ground beetles, amphibians and birds. For three development scenarios of the Oder, we are investigating how, for example, water quality and hydrological resilience to climate change differs depending on river deepening and utilisation intensity.
