We implement extensive water chemistry and ecology monitoring, which allows us to record whether and how the river ecosystem of the Oder is recovering. We are also integrating various monitoring data in order to recognise the risk of algal blooms at an early stage. By integrating this data into an information platform, we plan to provide an early warning system for the Oder. In addition, we are genetically analysing the toxin-producing alga Prymnesium parvum, which has been able to grow on a massive scale in the salt-polluted waters of the Oder.
